Luvina the Gardevoir is not her first pokemon. Eden the Liligant, and Hala the Delcatty. She got them both as gifts from Celestia, on her birthday. When her Aunt was in charge of rising the sun and moon, she's encountered many pokemon that depend on stones charged by her power to evolve, and she gifted these little ones to her niece. One day, after babysitting Twilight, she encountered a lone Ralts, hiding in the bushes, sobbing quietly. She wondered what was wrong with it, and by touching horns, she discovered her mother was captured by a different trainer, and now she was left alone. Not wanting this poor ralts to fend for itself, she brought it into her home, and raised her along with Twilight, both partaking in raising this pokemon and helping each other strengthen their powers.

Now, Luvina is one of her strongest pokemon, and even a part of her as well, since their beings is so well synchronized (mostly because of Luvina's Synchronize ability).
